This week's Friday Food Fun outing actually occurred on a Wednesday. The Husband was in town a few days earlier than usual for work meetings and we were on day two of Grade 3 for The Kid so we decided to do our weekly dinner out a few days early.
We headed to downtown St.Albert to the newly opened Jack's Burger Shack. I had wanted to eat there in August when it opened but when I mentioned that to The Kid (she was visiting family) she was adamant that I wait and we go together. So I have been waiting close to a month - hearing great things about this new place and patiently waiting ti be able to go!
Jack's Burger Shack is a small place, seating inside for about 20 people and at the moment there are some tables set up outside which is a nice idea. It was very busy when we were there, several times there was a line up of people waiting to order. Service is really quick though, and it is worth the wait!
We all had burgers and fries, and The Kid tried a milkshake.
As usual I forgot to snap a picture before we started eating so the picture is not the best (maybe a new goal for this year - take better food pictures!)
The Husband, who is always tough to please as far as fries, thought the fries were very good. I loved that they came with a malt vinegar aoli dip. He didn't try the Poutine this time, but I have heard good things about it so we'll have to put it to the Quebecer test next month. I might also order a few of their sauces as a side to sample with the fries (orange soda bbq sauce, jack's sauce, banana pepper marmalade).
Jack's Burger Shack is a great value as well, the three of us ate for around $35. We'll be back for sure, I think at least once more while the weather is nice and we'll get our burgers to go and walk a block to the river and have a Burger Picnic along the water!
What type of topping do they have for the burgers? Thanks

I had the BBQ Crunch Burger - chips, orange soda bbq sauce, bacon, and lettuce. Y. had a 'shroom burger - mushrooms and boursin cheese. Looks like they have a variety of toppings from regular (cheese, bacon, lettuce, tomato) to the more exotic - blue cheese, banana pepper chutney, french fries, peanut butter(!).

Update on this post - we went again last week. Had planned on Soda Jerks but there was a huge line.
I opted for the All Shook Up burger - topped with peanut butter and bacon. Weird but really good! Added A Captain Crunch Milk Shake to the order and it was perfect!
